BULAWAYO based Young Flying Stars Sports Academy (YFSSA) has continued to grow in leaps and bounds amid revelations by the institution’s founder and director Collen Nyambiya that this season they have managed to loan out 10 football players to local and foreign clubs.
Established 11 years ago, the academy has been churning out gifted young football players in a development that has seen them continue to get reputable links in the country, Botswana and Poland.
“We have loaned out so many players, 10 to be precise. We have Thabo Dube in Poland, we have Jacob Nduna Mloyi in the Botswana Premiership where he plays for Masitaoka Football Club and Masimba Kwatara is at Chicken Inn. We have Matthew Hove at Division side Mainline and Denver Mutamba at ZPC Hwange. Two boys Tanaka Chinhiwi and Ishe Chipimo were with Makhandeni Pirates but the club has since disbanded. Prince Nsingo, a goalkeeper is with Division Two side Lupane State University,” said Nyambiya.
In Poland, Dube, turns out for fourth tie club KS Rajfel Krasiejow and he is on a free loan because he is also pursuing his studies.
At Masitaoka, Mloyi (21) scored eight goals in the pre-season including four goals in one match against Security Systems.
Kwatara is aged 18 and he is one the academy’s gifted products that include Tyller Mukudu (19) who is studying at Michigan State University in the United States of America (USA).
The list also includes Nabil Ismail, who is doing his Part Four studies at Indiana University.
“We are very happy for the synergies. It gives us more confidence to do some more. We now realise we are able to make players ready for the market because all our boys before they turn 18 they move into clubs. It shows we are doing something well. We are really motivated; we now know where we can place our players after we train them. We now have a good reputation for developing good players. We hope to break into the major leagues. We are driven by passion hence our mission to train these boys from the age of five,” said Nyambiya.
Meanwhile, earlier this year, YFSSA started a netball training programme in a bid to nurture girls in the sport.
The academy’s diversification drive will also include other sporting codes in its portfolio.
This development came at a time when the academy was on course to spread its services in other provinces. -@FungaiMuderere
