Nyanga villagers hail Christmas

VILLAGERS in Nyanga believe Christmas time unites people.

A visit to the area showed that most villagers still celebrate Christmas and Boxing Day by merry making.

“Christmas time still holds fond memories for us because we get to meet our peers after a long time and we get to celebrate together.

“Goats are slaughtered and meat is shared among family members, which brings us closer together.

“Despite a few challenges we face, we forget our problems and simply celebrate with others during Christmas, “ said Rabson Sarutani of Nyanga.

Some said they had been saving from the beginning of the year to celebrate with loved ones.

“Things might be hard, but this holiday is a bit special as we meet relatives we haven’t seen in a long time. I have been budgeting for this holiday,” said a man who only identified himself as Maxwell.

Scores of people were feasting in different parts of the resort area.

Growth points were packed with people dancing to different music blurring from speakers outside every shop.
