The exposure that Zimbabwe is going to receive by participating in the National Day slot during the ongoing Expo 2025 Osaka Kansai, here in Japan, is expected to see the country’s tourism sector expand significantly, with more investment and trade deals being sealed, while Brand Zimbabwe will be projected positively on the global stage.

The Osaka Expo 2025 organisers have designated National Days for each participating country to honour their involvement and foster international goodwill.

For Zimbabwe, this is a significant opportunity to showcase its achievements and investment opportunities.

The theme for Zimbabwe’s National Day in July 2025, “Beyond the Limits”, resonates well with the Expo’s sub-theme, “Connecting Lives”.

President Mnangagwa will be the guest of honour and is expected to host the Japanese delegation.

According to Zimbabwe’s organising team, the day presents a significant opportunity for the country to showcase its rich cultural heritage, economic potential, and innovation to a global audience.

“The day will serve as a platform to strengthen diplomatic ties, attract investment and promote trade and tourism. It will emphasise Zimbabwe’s progress and commitment to international collaboration and foster a deeper understanding of its contributions to global development.

“This event enhances Zimbabwe’s global visibility, allowing the nation to engage with diverse countries and seize opportunities for growth and partnerships that benefit the country and its people.”

According to the document prepared by Zimbabwe’s Commissioner General to Expo 2025 Osaka, Mr Allan Majuru’s team, some of the major expectations include an increase in tourist arrivals of 15 percent per annum, an increase in registered investment deals of 10 percent annually and learning from Japan and other participating countries on the latest best practices and technology for use in industry.

The Government of Zimbabwe, according to the document, also seeks to use the Expo to promote Brand Zimbabwe by showcasing social and cultural diversity and boosting the country’s trade and investment opportunities.

“Zimbabwe will be the sole representative of Southern Africa during this week, allowing it to highlight its unique cultural heritage, economic potential and tourism offerings. This distinctiveness can attract global attention and set Zimbabwe apart from other participating nations.

“Zimbabwe’s rich cultural heritage, including traditional music, dance, art and cuisine, will be a key focus. Events such as live performances, art exhibitions and cultural displays will engage visitors and create a memorable experience,” reads the document in part.

The National Day, according to the Zimbabwean team, will serve as a platform to promote Zimbabwe’s economic potential, particularly in sectors such as mining, agriculture, tourism and renewable energy.

Presentations, business forums and networking events will target potential investors and partners.

The event will highlight Zimbabwe’s progress towards achieving its Vision 2030 goals, emphasising sustainable development, innovation, and economic growth.

“National Day programmes at Expo 2025 Osaka are important for enhancing national visibility, strengthening international relationships, and promoting tourism, trade and investment. The day offers an opportunity for countries to showcase their identity, attract international attention, and engage in meaningful dialogues, ultimately spotlighting their role in global development and cooperation.

“The National Day will allow Zimbabwe to raise its flag high during the Osaka Expo, hence its curation is aimed at making Zimbabwe more visible at this international arena. It is a chance for visitors to experience a deeper understanding of Zimbabwe’s culture and heritage.

“It will present Zimbabwe with the opportunity to communicate its mantra – Zimbabwe is open for business.”
