Oscar signs new five-year deal

LONDON. — Oscar has pledged his long-term future to Chelsea after penning a new five-year deal to stay at Stamford Bridge. The Brazil midfield ace joined Chelsea from Internacional for £20m in 2012 and has established himself as a first-team regular.

Oscar, who has played a leading role in Chelsea’s sensational start to season, admits he is delighted to have penned fresh terms to remain at the club.

“I am so happy because I love playing for Chelsea and living in England,” the 23-year-old told the club’s official website.

“I have enjoyed playing here for two years, and now I have five more, so I am very happy.”

His new deal with keep him at Chelsea until 2019 and will come as another major boost for manager Jose Mourinho.

The Special One has masterminded a stunning beginning to the campaign and his side are yet to taste defeat in domestic or European competition.

Oscar played the full 90 minutes as Chelsea won 2-1 at Liverpool on Saturday to remain on course to clinch their first league title since 2010. — The Daily Star.
