AT least one hundred people will be tested for drug and substance abuse at the 11th anniversary of the Pan Jap Motors tournament at Old Hararians Sports Club tomorrow.
The organisers of the tournament have partnered Restore Life Rehabilitation for the testing exercise.
It is in line with the tournament’s theme “Say No to Drugs.”
The company will use the tournament to conduct a Drug Awareness Campaign.
“Our goal is to promote healthy lifestyles, raise awareness of the dangers of drug and substance abuse, and provide practical tools to support prevention,” the organisers said.
The company will conduct short drug awareness talks and educational engagement with players, fans, and the community throughout the event.
It will also distribute information flyers on mental health and the dangers of substance abuse and will conduct free On-Site Drug Testing Services.
At least hundred people, including players and fans, will be tested during the day on a voluntary basis.
Restore Life will provide trained professionals to carry out the testing.
Pan Jap Motors will cover the cost of the test kits.
The organisers say this will reinforce Pan Jap Motors’ stance against drug and substance abuse, promote health and wellness within the community and encourage young people to embrace sports and positive lifestyles over harmful habits.
Pan Jap Motors team manager Zondai Nyaungwa said this tournament was more than just a football show.
“It’s bigger than just a football tournament and it goes on to show the commitment that we have at Pan Jap Motors to make a difference in our community.”
