In a statement, Ms Washaya-Moyo said this year saw the authority renovating and refurbishing its lodges at Mana Pools, Hwange and Nyanga.
“Work in Chivero is in progress. The exercise includes painting, re-thatching and tiling of some of the lodges within these stations as well as picnic sites in Hwange.
“Equipment and soft furnishings which include stoves, fridges, blankets, bed sheets, pillows are also being carried out,” she said.
At Chivero besides painting and re-thatching, Ms Washaya-Moyo said, focus was on water reticulation and interior renovations of the ablution facilities.
“A total of about $400 000 has been utilised for this exercise. Those who visit these stations will definitely see a change,” she said.
She said most parks facilities required a facelift so as to be competitive as well as meet regional and international standards.
“In 2012, the authority intends to refurbish lodges at Hwange Main Camp, improve ablution facilities at Cunningham and finish off some lodges at Osborne Dam.
“A budget of about $1,5 million is earmarked for the refurbishment as well as re-equipping the lodges. Introduction of conference facilities at Chivero, Hwange Main Camp, Matopo, Nyanga and Kyle is also part of the work that the parks authority wants to pursue,” said Ms Washaya-Moyo.
