The appointments will pave way for the First Session of the Ninth Parliament, which will be officially opened by President Mnangagwa on September 25.

Impeccable sources said the Politburo unanimously agreed to retain Advocate Jacob Mudenda as the Speaker of the National Assembly. According to the sources, Adv Mudenda would be deputised by Cde Tsitsi Gezi.

The Politburo also nominated Cde Marbel Chinomona as the Senate president. She will replace Cde Edna Madzongwe.

Cde Pepurai Togarepi, according to the sources, was nominated Zanu-PF chief whip in the National Assembly.

He will be deputised by Cde Obedingwa Mguni while Cde Tsitsi Muzenda will be deputy chief whip in the Senate.
