COACH Calisto Pasuwa believes his band of Young Warriors have what it takes to outplay Swaziland in their own backyard and progress to the next stage of the 2015 Caf U-23 Championship qualifying rounds.Zimbabwe Under-23 team will entertain their Swazi counterparts on Sunday away at Somhlolo National Stadium in Swaziland for the return leg of the Caf U-23 Championship qualifier after the first leg fizzled out into a goalless stalemate at Rufaro Stadium last Sunday.
The winner of the duel between the two teams will face South Africa in the third and final round of the qualifying rounds.
Though Pasuwa is not taking his opponents lightly, he believes that they have the pedigree to upstage their opponents in the reverse fixture.
“Yes, we should have got the lead while playing at home, but we are not out. We will fight for the result that we want when we play against them (Swaziland) away in Swaziland.
“It is not going to be easy, but we believe we have what it takes to achieve what we need to.
“Of course, that will also depend with the preparations that we will have as well as the moral that will prevail in camp but I have no doubt that the players I have the zeal to achieve big things,” said Pasuwa.
The 2015 Caf U-23 Championship qualifying rounds will decide the participating teams of the 2015 Caf U-23 Championship tournament organised by the Confederation of African Football for the Under-23 national teams of their member associations.
A total of eight teams will play in the final tournament to be hosted by Senegal.
The 2015 Caf U-23 Championship acts as qualification to the 2016 Summer Olympics men’s football tournament for Caf with the top three teams qualifying.
The Young Warriors Class of ’15 has the potential to scale dizzy heights and to their credit they have already booked a berth in the All Africa Games.
By qualifying for the continental games, the Young Warriors ended 21 years of waiting to represent Zimbabwe at the All-Africa Games with Wieslaw Grabowski’s 1995 silver medallists having been the last class to take part in the competition on home soil.
