A 27-YEAR-OLD man, Willard Muparutsa, who killed a neighbour in Five Streams in Penhalonga in November last year after suspecting him of having an extramarital affair with his wife, was last Friday sentenced to 25 years in prison.
Muparutsa told High Court judge Justice Charles Hungwe that he was suspecting that his wife was having an illicit affair with the now deceased Evison Rimai (20).
He said he confronted Evison over the matter but he bragged about it which infuriated him hence subsequently stabbing him.
Ms Jane-Rose Matsikidze prosecuted.
The court heard that on the day Rimai met his fate, he was in the company of others at the compound discussing social issues when Muparutsa stabbed him with a knife, accusing him of having bolted out of his house through the window after being cornered.
However, the court dismissed his arguments, saying they lacked merit and differed from what witnesses had testified.
