Before adopting executive Presidency in 1988, the House of Assembly used to have the PM’s question slot, when legislators would get an insight into the operations of Government.
Clerk of Parliament Mr Austin Zvoma, confirmed the development, saying the PM’s question time would commence when Parliament resumes sitting next month.
“It is the people who proposed the Prime Minister’s question time,” he said.
“It is going to start this session on October 4. It would have been next week if the House had not adjourned.”
Prime Minister Morgan Tsvangirai would be expected to answer legislators on various matters pertaining to the work of Government.
Following the formation of the inclusive Government in 2009 under the Global Political Agreement, Zimbabwe reintroduced the title of PM who has the mandate to chair the Council Of Ministers, which meets every week on Thursday.
