POLICE have launched a manhunt and are appealing for information leading to the whereabouts of a former employee of Victoria Falls Hotel, who disappeared after allegedly stealing nearly $5 000 from the hotel.
Cephas Zanza (27), whose last known address is 6351 Mkhosana Township, disappeared in November last year.
A docket of fraud was opened against him but on 3 November 2013 when detectives arrived to arrest him at his home he was nowhere to be found.
He is alleged to have converted $4 786 to his own use by electronic fund transfers between July and October last year.
According to police documents, Zanza was employed as an assistant front office manager responsible for arrivals and departures and monitoring activities within the hotel as well as managing all in-house accounts.
It is said that Zanza’s criminal tendencies were discovered on 29 October by Bongani Mpofu, after the Opera System showed that some guests had been booked but there was no money in the system and investigations pointed at Zanza, originally from Nhekairo area outside Harare.
Zanza had worked for Victoria Falls Hotel for four years after joining in December 2008.
The docket was withdrawn from court pending arrest of Zanza.
Zanza’s other known address was 3491 18th Crescent in Dzivarasekwa, Harare, being his next of kin, Kennedy Zanza’s place of residence.
There is a reward for anyone with information leading to the whereabouts of Zanza, according to officials from the hotel.
