Senior police detectives spent the day yesterday in Chiredzi interviewing Cde Admore Hwarare and those who were present when zanu-pf Politburo member Cde Nicholas Goche revealed that there was a covert plot to cause “real war” at the zanu-pf National People’s Congress next week. Sources close to the investigations said they were part of the police’s move to open a docket against Cde Goche. Cde Goche had been invited to a function for the Zimbabwe Sugar Milling Industry Workers Union when he confided in Cde Hwarare, the union’s secretary general, about the plot. He pulled Cde Hwarare aside on September 7 this year at Wild Ox Bar and Mteri Lodge in Chiredzi and told him that there would be “real war” at the 6th zanu-pf National People’s Congress where shots will be fired and people flushed down the toilet.
Sources yesterday told The Herald that a team of senior detectives from Harare were in Chiredzi to probe the case in preparation of the compilation of a criminal docket against Cde Goche. The detectives spent the whole day yesterday recording statements from Cde Hwarare and Chiredzi West National Assembly Member Cde Darlington Chiwa and his Chiredzi East counterpart Cde Denford Masiya.
Cde Chiwa and Cde Masiya were at the meeting where Cde Goche made his utterances.
Cde Hwarare yesterday refused to comment on the investigations, saying what he had already said to The Herald before was enough.
“I am prepared to stand in court and say what I heard on the day in question and I cannot say anything further,” he said.
Sources in Chiredzi said recording of statements by the detectives went into the night yesterday with Cdes Chiwa and Masiya and four other youths who were present at Mteri Lodge and Wild Ox Bar on September 7 having statements recorded after Cde Hwarare.
