Police seize $20k mbanje

POLICE here recently seized 20 kilogrammes of mbanje with a street value of $20 000 from a Rusape woman trying to cross into Mozambique with it.

Rosemary Majurira (47) of Muzenge Village under Chief Chiduku, Rusape, was arrested by the Mutare Border Patrol Unit.

She, however, denied the charges when she appeared before Mutare magistrate, Miss Perseverance Makala last week.

She is being charged with contravening Section 157 (1) of the Criminal Law (Codification and Reform) Act.

The State was represented by Mr Brighton Shamuyarira.

Majurira was remanded out of custody to a later date for continuation of trial.
