PRESIDENT Mnangagwa has arrived in Accra, Ghana, for a three-day State visit that will culminate in the signing of bilateral agreements between Zimbabwe and Ghana.
The President arrived at the Accra International Airport this evening, where he was received by his Ghanaian counterpart, President John Dramani Mahama, Foreign Affairs and International Trade Minister Professor Amon Murwira, Zimbabwe’s Ambassador to Ghana Kufa Chinoza, Ghananian government ministers and international diplomats accredited to Ghana.
The President was received with full military honours.
Upon arrival, President Mnangagwa inspected a guard of honour mounted by the Ghana Armed Forces, followed by a 21-gun salute.
To officially mark the start of the State Visit, President Mahama will host a State banquet in honour of President Mnangagwa, as part of efforts to celebrate the longstanding friendship between the two countries.
In addition to the signing of Memoranda of Understanding covering areas of mutual interest, President Mnangagwa is scheduled to visit the Sweden Medical Centre and the Accra Compost and Recycling Plant to gain first-hand appreciation of Ghana’s progress in healthcare and waste management technologies.
The President will also tour the Kwame Nkrumah Memorial Park and is expected to lay wreaths on the tomb of Ghana’s founding father.
President Mnangagwa is accompanied by Tourism and Hospitality Industry Minister Barbara Rwodzi, Chief Secretary to the President and Cabinet Dr Martin Rushwaya, Attorney General Virginia Mabhiza, Deputy Chief Secretary George Charamba and other senior Government officials.
