President Mnangagwa commends media for promoting transparency and accountability

President Mnangagwa has praised the media for their exceptional performance over the past year, highlighting their pivotal role in promoting transparency and accountability.

In his remarks during the first Cabinet meeting of the year held at Munhumutapa building in Harare today, the President urged journalists to sustain the momentum this year, emphasising the critical importance of their work in shaping public discourse and fostering democratic engagement.

“The invaluable role you continue to play in information dissemination remains critical towards nation building, socio-economic transformation, entrenching our national peace, unity and social cohesion.

“As the post-Cabinet press briefings resume in their usual manner, I urge you, our media practitioners, to continue the excellent work that characterised your operations in 2025 and make 2026 another success story for our beloved motherland, Zimbabwe,” said President Mnangagwa.

He then implored the media industry to continue upholding the values of responsible journalism Hunhu/Ubuntu, and place national interest at the centre of their coverage.
