OF late, mental health issues have been a topical issue and in response to this need, Elizabeth “Liz” Dziva is thrilled to announce the launch of the “Vintage Vibes Family Fun Day”, a unique event dedicated to promoting mental wellness among senior citizens and their families.

Scheduled for Saturday, this vibrant celebration will take place at Everbrite Gardens in Lochinvar, Harare.

The Vintage Vibes Family Fun Day promises to be an unforgettable experience filled with live music, dance, and laughter.

Designed to provide mental stimulation and stress relief for senior citizens, the event also aims to foster intergenerational connections and strengthen community bonds.

“This event is about celebrating life and positivity while reducing loneliness among our senior citizens,” Dziva explained.

“We want to create an inclusive atmosphere where everyone feels connected.”

Attendees can look forward to a lineup of engaging activities, including a comedy performance by Ckhanyiso Dat Guy, sure to bring smiles and laughter to the audience as well as a live band performance by Brian Nyahuma, featuring nostalgic tunes that will evoke cherished memories.

There will be free health services including blood pressure checks and optional breast cancer screenings.

Dziva said, “Mental health issues affect individuals of all ages, and the Vintage Vibes Family Fun Day seeks to break down barriers and foster a culture of understanding. By engaging senior citizens and their families, the event serves as a beacon of hope, encouraging open conversations about mental health in the community.”

“We want to create a supportive environment where people can talk about their experiences and seek help,” Dziva added

Dziva invites other corporates to partner in this initiative, emphasising the importance of corporate social responsibility.

“By joining us, organisations can demonstrate their commitment to enhancing mental wellness in the community,” she stated.

As local artiste and wellness advocate Brian Nyahuma aptly put it, “This initiative is about being our brothers’ and sisters’ keepers, fostering a supportive community, and encouraging open conversations about mental health.”
