PSL spreads games across Easter weekend

THE Bulawayo derby between resurgent Highlanders and Chicken Inn will headline Castle Lager Premier Soccer League matches that have been spread across the Easter weekend.

League games will be played every day starting on Thursday and ending on Easter Monday.

The championship race continues with newly promoted Simba Bhora and Yadah set to open the Easter weekend football fiesta with a duel set for Thursday at the National Sports Stadium.

Good Friday will see five matches being played. Friday’s games will see second on the table Caps United being the away team at the National Sport Stadium when they face Black Rhinos, with Ngezi Platinum Stars who are still searching for their first win of the season playing host to Herentals at Baobab Stadium while anchors Green Fuel host Manica Diamonds at Gibbo.

Defending champions FC Platinum, smarting from a 2-1 defeat to Highlanders return to Mandava with the hope of getting the better of Bulawayo Chiefs on Friday.

FC Platinum and Bulawayo Chiefs are facing off for the second time this year, having played in the season’s opening Castle Challenge Cup that the league champions won 2-0 at Mandava last month.

Amakhosi Amahle, who are searching for their first win of the season have been poking fun at the champions on social media.

“Whatever will happen next week, oksalayo uswazi luka Bhudi baluzwile. Well done Bosso, Ebhoreni akula John Cena.

“Next Stop, we travel to face the wounded and Angry Platinum FC. We take no Fear to Mandava,” Bulawayo Chiefs wrote on their social media platforms.

Friday’s fifth match is a Bulawayo derby pitting Chicken Inn and Highlanders. It’s a match that promises to be a thriller and with a bumper crowd of 11 000 paying their way to watch the Bosso-FC Platinum encounter last Sunday, another record crowd is expected at Barbourfields Stadium.

On Saturday, Hwange will be hoping to make it three consecutive wins as they host Sheasham at Luveve Stadium. The coalminers were 3-0 victorious over fellow league new comers Green Fuel and will be out for maximum points against the Gweru side that held Yadah to a 1-1 draw last weekend.

ZPC Kariba hosts Triangle United at the National Sports Stadium on Sunday, with the Dynamos and Cranborne Bullets match slatted for Easter Monday wrapping up the holiday fixtures.
