FRANCE-BASED diva Tatenda Mashiringo, whose stage name is Queen Marshie, has jetted back to her base in Lyon.
She is brimming with confidence after setting Harare alight with the launch of her sixth album, ‘Rejuvenation’.
And make no mistake about it, Queen Mashie is leaving on a high!
She is the sister of the late Andy Brown.
The nine-track project, crafted with the magical touch of producers Tapiwa Jaera, Willis Wataffi and Clive Mukundu, is already making waves, with fans raving about hits like “Higher,” “Lemonade” and “Chimwe Nechimwe.”
But, behind the glitter and groove, lies a deeply personal journey. “My music is a conversation between my heritage and experiences abroad,” Queen Mashie revealed.
“Personally, it’s deeply emotional because there is energy in the soul and the warmth of people is something you can’t find overseas.”
She also opened up about the real story behind ‘‘Rejuvenation’’.
“As for the theme of ‘Rejuvenation,’ the inspiration came from a period of burnout when I felt disconnected from my purpose.
“I realised that renewal isn’t just about rest — it’s about intentional transformation,” she said.
Despite living in France since 2014, Queen Mashie proved she hasn’t forgotten her roots, linking up with industry insiders like Chido Musasiwa and fellow songbirds Pauline Gundidza and Diana Samkange.
“I am always in touch with my peers back home . . . it’s always fun when we catch up and do what we used to do long ago,” she said.
From backing vocals for Andy Brown to commanding international stages, Queen Mashie’s rise has been nothing short of explosive.
She has performed at top festivals, including Sauti za Busara and the Harare International Festival of the Arts, cementing her global footprint.
“I will keep doing my best and working hard overseas, and make sure that I leave a mark abroad,” she declared.
Her brother Andy Brown may have died in 2012 at the age of 50, but the family legacy is still intact.
“It was a good experience working on this, of course, I’ve been coming home regularly, but I have missed my fans after performing several years ago.”
She has toured extensively in Germany, Switzerland, the Netherlands, the UK, France, and Norway. She started singing at the tender age of four and professionally from 2000, when she joined Andy Brown as a backing vocalist.
She later decided to go solo and joined the Vintage Band with veteran guitarist Timi Makaya as the lead singer.
She recorded her debut, titled ‘Higher Heights’ in 2006 before moving to Nairobi, Kenya.
She worked with the Nyota Safi Band and later joined the Tutu Band as a lead vocalist.
She was signed to Sound Africa and recorded her second album, ‘‘Kare Kare’’ (Long Time Ago), in 2008.
She did collaborations with different artists from Zimbabwe and Kenya, and produced her third album, ‘‘Queen Mashie Collaboration’’, in 2009. On that album, the song ‘‘Ulikuwa Wapi’’ topped the charts on Nation TV.
