A 33-YEAR-OLD maid from Bulawayo has been arrested for allegedly stealing about R15 000 from her employer.

Loveness Moyo was employed by Ms Princess Ncube who resides in Luveve suburb.

Moyo pleaded not guilty to a charge of theft when she appeared before Western Commonage magistrate, Ms Tancy Dube.

She was remanded in custody to tomorrow for continuation of trial.

Moyo told the magistrate that she did not know who took the money.

“On the said day there were some visitors at home. I’m not sure who got into Ms Ncube’s bedroom and took the money. Ms Ncube’s son could have taken the money because on that particular day he was all over the place and kept getting into the bedroom,” she said.

The prosecutor, Mrs Thembeni Mpofu said on December 21 last year at around 15:30PM, Ms Ncube’s husband discovered that some money was missing in their bedroom.

“He informed his wife about the matter and she suspected her maid as she is always the one at home,” she said.

In her testimony, Ms Ncube said when she asked her maid about the matter she did not give a satisfactory answer.

“Moyo told me that she suspected my son could have taken the money and later on she said she did not know where the money was.

“As I continued to interview her she told me that it could have been anyone because there were many people at home,” she said.—@LissahMangena
