A shocking case of alleged rape has surfaced in Plumtree, where a 32-year-old man, Qubekani Nyathi, reportedly fell asleep at the scene of the crime, still wearing a condom.
Nyathi allegedly raped a mentally ill woman and then fell asleep at the scene, still wearing a condom.
The shocking details of the case emerged at the Plumtree Magistrates’ Court, where Nyathi appeared before Magistrate Mr Joshua Nembaware.
According to the State, led by Selestine Madziwa, Nyathi committed the crime on December 17 last year and then proceeded to fall asleep next to his victim.
The accused was discovered the following morning, half-dressed and still wearing a condom. The circumstances of the case are all disturbing given the vulnerability of the victim.
Nyathi has been remanded in custody until January 31, pending further investigation and trial.
The case has raised concerns about the safety and well-being of mentally ill individuals, particularly women, who may be more susceptible to abuse and exploitation.
As the case unfolds, it is likely to spark important conversations about consent, vulnerability, and the need for greater support and protection for marginalized communities. (Bulawayo24)
