Rapist teacher jailed

her, has been thrown behind bars for an effective 11 years.

Nyasha Zvanezuro (39) pleaded not guilty to rape charges when he appeared before regional magistrate Mr Temba Kuwanda but was convicted because of overwhelming evidence against him.
Zvanezuro had, in his defence, claimed that the girls’ grandmother connived with a School Development Association member to implicate him.

Last year, he was slapped with a wholly suspended five-month jail term for public indecency.

Mr Kuwanda last Friday sentenced Zvanezuro to 15 years in prison, but set aside four years on condition of good behaviour.
In passing sentence, Mr Kuwanda noted that the offence Zvanezuro committed called for a stiffer penalty saying as a teacher he was expected to exhibit exemplary morals. – CR.
