A BUMPER crowd is tomorrow (Saturday) expected at Raylton Sports Club for the return of the Burnout Mania.
The event which saw a rapid growth in spectators’ popularity and last held in November 2015 is scheduled to commence at 11am. It will be hosted by the uptown nightclub, BarCode.
Six BMW E30, 320.i and 325 cars modified for the stresses that come with the game in the local circuit are expected from Harare with the Ice Motors team, Cici Boy, Boss Ice, Shy, Gaza General, Jadah and Creeper. Having started with a few individuals like Elisha Nyamundanda, popularly known as King Lusha and Clyde Jani, popularly known as CJ among others, more competitors from the eastern border city are expected to make a surprise appearance and showcase their skills against Ice Motors team.
Besides the supercharged cars and bikes for thrills galore, the usual variety of music, braais and the free flow of all manner of drinks will be available. BarCode spokesperson, Brian ‘DJ Stylez’ Mavhiza, said: “After seeing how popular the burnouts were and how they left people yearning for more last time, we decided to bring them back once again with prominent Harare spinners from the Ice Motors Crew bringing in more cars and stunts.
“The sport is growing in popularity in the country and we want local revellers to enjoy the same entertainment provided in Harare. The event will start at 11am till late,” said DJ Stylez.
He added that tonight (Friday) the Africa University opening party will be at BarCode after the event.
In a separate interview with Ice Motors spokesperson Cici Boy, he urged Mutare spinners to be stronger as his team was geared for the competition.
“Ice Motors is ready for the upcoming event with more stunts which include drifting, brushing and figure eights among others so Mutare boys should make sure they are up to standard now. We are not easy to beat,” said Cici.
He added that when performing burnout stunts, it was not just the driving skills that were important as the car’s capabilities also played a huge part.
“Basically on spinning cars, things that you need to modify will be your diff, emergency breaking system, steering and you also need to increase your horsepower. You have to lock the diff so that both wheels pull in the same direction, which gives you close circles when spinning and to increase your horsepower we modify the exhaust system, the crankshaft as well as the cam among other things.
“People to come in their numbers to witness the burnout madness,” he said.
