CHEVRONS superstar Sikandar Raza is officially the king of ODI all-rounders! The Harare hero surged to the number one spot in the latest ICC rankings after an electric two-match ODI series against Sri Lanka at Harare Sports Club last week.
Raza, now rated 302, leapfrogged Afghanistan’s Azmatullah Omazai and Mohammad Nabi, who dropped to second and third places respectively.
Even though Zimbabwe lost the series 2-0, Raza was unstoppable. He blasted 92 off 87 balls in the first match, pushing the Chevrons to the brink in a nail-biting last-over thriller that ended just seven runs short. He scored an unbeaten 59 off 55 in the second match, yet another heart-stopper at the nation’s ceremonial home of cricket.
With an average of 151, Raza was the second highest run-getter in the series behind Sri Lanka’s Pathum Nissanka, who tallied 198 runs. He also chipped in with a wicket.
Teammate Sean Williams also enjoyed a boost, climbing seven spots to 16th with a rating of 189.
Later today, Raza – currently seventh in T20I all-rounder rankings – will lead the Chevrons in the opening match of the three-game T20I series at Harare Sports Club, with the first ball set to be bowled at 1:30PM.
