REA targets 60 percent rural electrification

THE Rural Electrification Agency says it has a target to make electricity accessible to 60 percent of the rural populace countrywide.

In an interview REA spokesperson, Mr Johannes Nyamayedenga, said this is in line with the Government’s National Development Strategy 1 which is targeting rural development.

He said the agency has made notable progress despite prevailing economic hardships with at least 9 000 rural institutions being electrified.
