The Bulawayo Models Association is gearing up for its annual event, the Bulawayo Fashion Week (BFW), and Bulawayo Models Awards (BMA) set to take place from 14 to 16 December.

The event will run under the theme “Operation restore legacy”. “The theme was inspired by the fact that we want to re-elevate the sector to the top where it belongs,” stated Pardon Khaya-elihle Kanye, the president of Bulawayo models association.

“The event will be done in three different places for three days in the Central Business District and we are yet to announce venues as we want to hype up the city, people should know our venues are going to be extraordinary and classy, ” said  Kanye.

Kanye promised a three-day extravaganza filled with international standards, fashion enthusiasts and industry professionals. The event will kick off with a workshop and exhibition on the first day, providing an opportunity for models, artistes, designers, and stakeholders to come together and exchange ideas. This platform aims to foster collaboration and innovation within the local fashion industry, ultimately contributing to its growth and development.

The highlight of BFW and BMA will be the high fashion show days on the second and last day of the event. Attendees can expect a display of cutting-edge designs, showcasing the latest trends and styles from both local and international designers. The organisers have spared no effort in ensuring that the fashion shows meet international standards, promising a spectacle that will captivate audiences.

In addition to the fashion shows, the Bulawayo Models Association has hinted a surprise international act and designer who might grace the event.

“People should expect a full international standard fashion week as we are trying by all means to go all out on set-up, display and entertainment hence we would not love to disclose or specify but we might have a surprise international act and designer if all goes accordingly.”

Khanye highlighted that BFW and BMA were open to all models, artistes, designers, and stakeholders who wish to contribute to elevating Bulawayo’s fashion industry. By encouraging participation from various individuals within the industry, the association aims to create a diverse and inclusive platform that showcases the talent and creativity present in the region.

“We are open to all models, artistes, designers and stakeholders to come on board and help elevate Bulawayo fashion industry back to its great heights.”

The Bulawayo Models Association’s vision is to revive and elevate the fashion industry in Bulawayo, restoring it to its former glory. By hosting events like BFW and BMA, they aim to provide a platform for local designers, models, and artistes to gain recognition both locally and internationally.
