The RG clothing line that was inspired by the signature of President Robert Mugabe continues to enjoy immense popularity among fashionistas and patriotic youngsters alike with the latest being a range of sportswear.
Previously, the clothing line was predominantly found in overalls then dubbed “Hovhorosi style” emblazoned with President Mugabe’s famous signature.
However, as the designer wear grew among the youths, the designers have taken it to a whole new level to include sportswear, caps and tracksuits.
Chief designer James Pande, who is also the Zimbabwe Entrepreneurs Youth Action (ZEYA)president, was delighted that the clothing line was now a common phenomenon not just in Zimbabwe but beyond borders.
“We have started designing amazing range of soccer, basketball, netball and cricket jerseys. This time we want to take the RG designer label to the world,” he said.
“The label is growing and continues to grow beyond measure. So far, it is slowly making its way on the international scene. We are particularly impressed by the support from the First Lady Dr Amai Grace Mugabe.
‘‘To us this is clear testimony of her huge endorsement and empowerment for the youth.
“As Team ZEYA we want to thank the First Family for the work they are doing in uplifting the lives of youths of Zimbabwe especially orphans as witnessed during our recent visit to Mazowe,” Pande said.
He said they were aiming at competing with other brands such as Gucci, Prada, Guess, Levis, Diesel and be able to dress celebrities.
“So far we have dressed Emmanuel Bako, one of the talented motocross sensation in Zimbabwe. He has taken the RG label to international racing competitions and that is something to be proud of .
‘‘To this end, I urge all the youths to focus on working together as children of God and shun division for unity produces victory and victory is sweet,” Pande said.
