This means that South Africans Lee and Keagan and Namibians Junia and Jesica will all be battling for Africa’s vote as the race to the finale heats up. It is important to note that the two who will be upgraded to Upville do not need to be country pairs.
Last week, Zimbabwe’s representative Roki, survived the chop when Biggie pardoned the Upvillers from evictions following the disqualification of Sierra Leone’s Zainab and Ghana’s DKB.
The Sierra Leonean model and Ghanaian comedian engaged in an argument on the afternoon of day 29 which resulted in violence. The confrontation took place after DKB accused Zainab of peeping while he was getting ready to shower.
“Never do that again, next time I will slap you,” the angry DKB said to Sierra Leonean.
She however did not take kindly to being threatened and provoked DKB to go ahead and slap her; this resulted in an angry slap from the comedian.
The Ghanaian sparked an outrage on twitter with viewers demanding that the housemate leave the house immediately. The Big Brother rules state clearly that any housemate who becomes physically violent will be removed from the house immediately.
However, Biggie found both guilty and gave them the boot.
Their disqualification had meant that Roki who was fourth with two nominations tied with Nigeria’s Goldie were going to be at the mercy of Africa.
During the nomination proceedings Sunday evening, housemates watched from their television set in the Downville lounge as the random lottery balls bubbled in the selector. Although many of the Downvillers tried to play it cool as they awaited their fate, the fear in their eyes could not be hidden. When Junia and Jesica’s country ball popped up, Jesica looked stunned. Junia did not waste any time and broke down into tears. Keagan smiled uneasily then cracked a joke, while Lee quickly made a beeline for a cigarette.
For the first time since Star Game began, two housemates will be shipped off to snazzy Upville on Sunday.
Meanwhile, Zimbabwe’s other representative; Maneta seems to be forgetting that she will go back to Zimbabwe as she constantly draws the ire from the country’s viewers.
On Sunday she told Keita that everyone back home would be bother her as she was now a celebrity.
“You know I’m now a socialite, when I go back home people will be bothering me because I am now famous,” she said.
Recently in the media Maneta has been making scathing remarks during the BBA Star Game Show about Zimbabwe Revenue Authority (Zimra), Zimbabwe Republic Police (ZRP) and Zimbabwe Broadcasting Corporation (ZBC).
Maneta has accused Zimra of corruption, ZBC for alleged poor quality service and dismissed fellow Zimbabwean housemate Roki as a loser.
Never before, in the history of Big Brother Africa, has any Zimbabwean representative had such a negative view of her own country like Maneta.
Viewers, both local and regional, have been treated to a variety of venomous jabs that have been directed at her country, compatriot Roki, half sister, her fellow housemates and, mostly recently, her former employers Zimra and ZBC.
She remarked recently: “I worked for one of the most corrupt companies in Zimbabwe — a company called Zimra . . .” Her behaviour, while raising the ire of her compatriots, has also raised questions on the criteria used by Multichoice Zimbabwe to select representatives from the countries. — Entertainment Reporter/ www.bigbrotherafrica.dstv.com
