South African alcoholic brand, Xploit Vodka is courting Bulawayo rapper Cal_vin as a possible brand ambassador as it looks to penetrate the Zimbabwean market over the next year.
Xploit, which is not yet available in Zimbabwe, was recently established in neighbouring South Africa and is now looking to expand its horizons across the Limpopo with Cal_vin as the spearhead of its campaign.
In an interview the rapper who has been advertising the brand on his social media pages after a recent visit to South Africa said that he was still in discussion with Xploit as a final deal had not been agreed upon as yet.
a?Itas still something that is on the table. It would be great for me and them as a brand so we will see over the course of the year how things go because thatas the time frame that they are working with,a? he said.
The rapper added that the South African brand had stumbled on him while they were looking for someone on the local urban music scene that could help push and promote their as yet unknown brand in the City of Kings.
a?I have a strong social media presence and that is incidentally how they got to know most things about me. Basically they were looking for someone with the ability to give them a push in Zimbabwe and when they looked at acts that could do that my name came up,a? he said.
The Bulawayo wordsmith has over the last year become synonymous with another vodka brand, Russian Bear, with many of his lyrics making reference to the brand which is popular in Bulawayo.
Cal_vin said although he had expressed interest to becoming their brand ambassador, he had been told that Russian Bearas main focus was on South Africa where Boss Zonke hit-maker Riky Rick was the brand ambassador.
