headquarters, that the two will seal an agreement that will result in Dominus Sport representing the brand from a commercial perspective.
The occasion comes barely a week after the Sables committee roped in Deloitte and Touche as their partner responsible for the audit of accounts for the senior team.
It is after a proven track record in both cricket and rugby that the Sables have decided to join the band and make sure that Dominus Sport handles the marketing side of their events including games and tournaments on home soil.
Dominus has been involved with Zimbabwe Cricket where they hosted the Stanbic Twenty20 tournament as their biggest exhibit for the cricket association.
Earlier this year they also organised and ran the Spar Zimbabwe Sevens International tournament on behalf of the Cheetahs brand at Harare Sports Club.
“Dominus Sport successfully worked with the Zimbabwe Sevens Rugby team when launching the inaugural international Sevens rugby tournament in March this year.
“With the business of sport being a critical component in the livelihood of sporting organisations in today’s age, the Sables will look to Dominus Sport as being the catalyst for a bright future for the game,” read a statement from the Zimbabwe Rugby Union.
Sables committee chairman Bongai Zamchiya also added: “The Sables committee, a brand committee under the Zimbabwe Rugby Union, is pleased to welcome Deloitte and Touche (Deloitte) as a corporate partner for the 2012 season.
“They will be responsible for the audit of accounts for the Sables Committee and will provide other professional services on an ad hoc basis throughout the year.”
Zamchiya expressed pleasure on the partnership with the accounting firm.
“This partnership will give our stakeholders, partners and sponsors the confidence that all our funding and income will be utilised in the prescribed manner. Furthermore, we will be able to account for monies to an international standard.
“I hope this will give other partners the confidence to join us as we build on 2011’s achievements and grow rugby to become the second most popular sport in Zimbabwe.”
Deloitte’s Partner for Financial Advisory Services Tich Mudede, added that Deloitte was happy to be associated with the Sables.
“Deloitte sees itself not merely as a corporate partner in its involvement with Sables, but as an investor in the future of the country and in the young, who are that future.
“We at Deloitte are passionate about driving sport forward in Zimbabwe and are therefore pleased to be associated with Sables.
“We believe this gives us the opportunity to promote public awareness of our brand and image as well as strengthening brand preference in the market place.
“The more high profile our sport, and rugby in particular becomes, the more Zimbabwe’s image can move forward both in the international arena and in our domestic fixtures.” With their brand set to secure more sponsors though a full time marketing agency, Sables mentor Brendon Dawson and his charges can turn their focus on winning the Africa Cup as well as fight for qualification for the next World Cup to be staged in England in 2015.
The sables have over the last two years been on a revival mission.
