Sakubva Hurricanes stun Sophists

UNBEATEN City Sophists’ bubble finally burst and their supporters failed to stomach the first defeat of the season when they caused mayhem at Raylton Sports club on Saturday as their team suffered a painful 65-68 defeat at the hands of Sakubva Hurricanes.
The tense match against Hurricanes became the first defeat for Sophists.
Apart from switching off the floodlights in a desperate attempt to have the match aborted, Sophists fans stormed the court until order was restored and their team duly walked away with their tails firmly tucked between their legs.

The win for Sakubva Hurricanes saw them climbing the log table to number three while Sophists dropped to second position.
That Sophists are blessed with experienced players in their fold and they had not been beaten since the season started only now taste their first defeat at the hands of a youthful Sakubva Hurricanes in a Manicaland Basketball Association league tie, helped rub salt into the wounds of Sophists fans.

The match, which was dubbed ‘‘game of the day’’ was the last to be played and because of time it ended during the night under flood lights.
Sakubva Hurricanes coach Tatenda Manyika expressed joy after the match which he described as the best game of the season so far. “The team played very well and I am very happy that we have defeated the team which had never been beaten before and this has been the best game of the season,” said Manyika.
