Save for Smartress

Almost everyone has had to deal with a love rat at one point or another. If media reports across all genres are an indication What is worse that having your partner cheat on you? Well, for many the answer would be having your partner use your shared bed for their trysts. Talk about adding insult to injury with the insult hurting far much more than the injury! If you are in love with that kind of insensitive cretin and you believe that keeping tabs on them is your answer to happiness, then hold your breath, cross your fingers, throw some dollars into a prophet’s collection bin, whatever you believe in. Durmet, a Spanish company recently announced that they are about to unleash a smart mattress that will keep your bed safe from unwanted action. Spain came in at number eight in the recent The World’s 10 Most Adulterous Nationalities as Thailand scooped the prize. Oddly enough there are no African country in the top 10. If you are worried about who may get between your sheets then start saving up the asking price of $1 750 as the Smartress which comes with a built in “Lover Detection System” is not yet on the market. But the company says it is already in production and they released a video of the testing process. If you add the shipping and duty costs, then I suppose in Zimbabwe we can expect to fork out no less than $5 000 for the mattress when it hits the market. A steep price to pay for love, most will be forced to agree.

Durmet says the Smartress will come equipped with 24 sensors that will send an alert to your smart phone “whenever someone is using your bed in a questionable way.” Just make sure that the kids do not decide to use your bed as a trampoline or the sensors will send your blood pressure sky rocketing while you rush home with x-rated images of your partner and the domestic worker torturing you all the way.

The downside is that for all its cleverness, the Smartmattress will not be able to tell you anything about your partner’s extracurricular activities that do not occur on that one bed. So it will only work if you only care about where the cheating happens, rather than it happening in the first place. But if you are determined not to be hurt by what you do not know, then this is one purchase you should definitely not make.
