Speaking after handing over the money to the school’s headmistress, Ms Netsai Mufu-kare, Ambassador Al-Sharhan said Harare and Kuwait City enjoyed cordial relations.
He said Zimbabwe played a pivotal role to his country when it was chairing the United Nations Security Council in the early 1990s following an invasion by Iraq.
“Zimbabwe played an important role in 1991 together with the international community after we were invaded by Iraq,” he said.
“Zimbabwe was the leader of that time because it was a member and chair of the Security Council. When we come here, it is because Zimbabwe is close to us. A friend in need is a friend indeed.”
Chief of Protocol in the Office of the President and Cabinet Ambassador Munyaradzi Kajese who was accompanying Ambassador Al-Sharhan urged parents to work for the development of their community.
Also present at the occasion was Mutoko North House of Assembly Member Marble Chinomona, Third Secretary at the Embassy of the State of Kuwait Mr Husain Al-Ebrahim and the Embassy’s Diplomatic Attaché Mr Bin Hajji Yousef.
