ANOTHER suspect a part of four armed robbers who allegedly killed a security guard at a Seventh Day Adventist (SDA) church-run primary school in Bulawayoas Pelandaba a is acting insane and alleging he is being haunted by the guardas spirit.
The late Burton Sikalonga is allegedly demanding a?his blooda? from Ndabezinhle Mpofu (25) of Old Pumula.
Two other suspects, Thomson Phuti (40) and Martin Dlamini (36) acted strangely in court, two weeks ago behaving as if they were seeing Sikalonga in court.
They failed to confirm their statements as they acted insane saying that Sikalonga was demanding compensation and reburial.
Mpofu, Phuti (40) of Mabutweni suburb, Dlamini (36) of New Magwegwe and Ownious Bhebhe of Old Magwegwe suburb appeared before provincial magistrate Mr Tinashe Tashaya for further remand on Thursday.
Mpofu appeared to be addressing an invisible person in front of him.
a?Please stop coming to my flat to ask for your blood. I donat have it. No! No! No! I killed you when you were riding your bicycle not when we were on the train. Do me a favour, stop coming to me because l canat sleep anymore,a? he screamed.
Mr Tashaya asked Mpofu which flat he was talking about before he remanded the four to April 5.
Mpofu did not respond and continued to apologise to the invisible security guard.
The magistrate ordered prison guards to take Mpofu for psychiatric evaluation.
The court heard the State is waiting for psychiatric evaluation results for Dlamini.
Dlamini and Phuti seemed normal when they appeared before Mr Tashaya.
Dlamini, whose hand got fractured last month during his arrest and is still in plaster, is facing a murder charge and another of possession of a gun without a licence.
The court heard that police carried out a search at Dlaminias home leading to the recovery of a star pistol and one live round of ammunition hidden in a disused refrigerator in his kitchen.
The four allegedly caused the death of Sikalonga who died upon admission to Mpilo Central Hospital in January this year while his workmate Mr Tshuma sustained injuries.
The accused persons, who allegedly had a gun, stole three laptops, five SDA T-shirts and nearly $300 at the SDA school and church which are located in the same premises.
The court heard that the suspects struck Sikalonga with an iron bar on the head and all over his body before stabbing him with a hunteras knife on January 17 at around 3am.
Prosecuting, Mr Nkathazo Dlodlo said police had recovered all the laptops, $40, two t-shirts and a pistol from the accused persons.
a?An HP laptop and two navy blue SDA t-shirts were recovered from Phuti. Another accused person Mpofu assisted to recover an SDA navy blue t-shirt from a resident. A Toshiba laptop and $40 were recovered from Bhebhe. A Lenovo laptop and a pistol were recovered from Dlamini,a? he said.
