Speaking at the hand-over ceremony held at the school the headmaster, Paul Nenjerama, said he was proud to have a soccer team from his school going for the tour.
“This is an important occasion for Hartmann House. It’s a pleasure that Seed Co came on board to assist in their own way to make the trip a success.
“It’s not easy for sponsors to come on board if there is something disorganised,” said Nenjerama.
Seed Co public relations and communications manager, Marjorie Mutemererwa, challenged parents to support their kids in pursuing their sporting dreams.
“Parents have a role to play encouraging their children to excel in areas they have the potential to excel.
“This year Seed Co is aiming at equipping the Zimbabwean student to be empowered in various disciplines.
“I would like to see you develop this talent and earn your respect and dignity through this discipline,” said Mutemererwa.
Head coach for the team, Bhekimpilo Nyoni, said they were looking forward to a successful tour.
“The players are aged between 11 and 12. So far we have played two friendlies against Gateway and Hokoyo Boys.
“Our aim is for the boys to go out and experience being away from home and it’s an opportunity to interact with the clubs and learn how they develop their juniors.
“Going on a tour means football at Hartmann has grown,” said Nyoni.
Parents of students at Hartmann initiated the tour and Nyoni said they were able to raise US$40 000 to cater for the trip.
“Last year we planned around September to take our football team for a tour.
“We got someone in South Africa who was just organising schools and clubs for us in Durban. One of the clubs is Amazulu Juniors,” said Nyoni.
The team is expected to leave for South Africa on April 11.
