The Tribute Dinner that had been slated for tonight at Cresta Lodge to honour Afro-jazz diva, Selmor Mtukudzi, has been postponed to next month. The development comes after the organisers of the event, Strides Hospitality and Entertainment, revealed they wanted time to cater for other stakeholders who want to participate in the event. Strides Hospitality and Entertainment group chief executive officer, Tawanda Dube said the event had attracted more stakeholders who need time to prepare to partake in the Tribute Dinner.

“The main reason for the postponement is the overwhelming response from different sectors within society, corporate world, music, art and culture fraternities who want to join us in celebration of Selmor’s contribution to the society.

“We have decided to move the dinner to July 24 as some of these partners have requested us to give them more time to prepare for the event.

“There are some artistes who want to contribute as they have worked with Selmor on collaborations, backstage and in different areas in her goal to be the distinguished and outstanding solo act that she is today,” he said.

Dube said other musicians such as Hope Masike are away on international tours whilst others like Tariro neGitare were booked for shows yet they want to partake in the event to honour Selmor.

“We had to strike a balance and find a convenient date as organisations working for the upliftment of women want their say as well.

“Postponement became a necessity to ensure we maintain credibility and a fundamental approach that calls for participation from all stakeholders,” he said.

Dube added that the development further cements the fact that Selmor deserves this honour
