There had been discord in Shabanie Mine camp which saw the Zvishavane team suffering an away defeat at the hands of Harare City before Motor Action handed them a shocking 2-nil defeat at home.
Morale among Shabanie players was at its lowest ebb as they had not been paid their bonuses.
Vedette Trading which has often rescued the miners in their times of need made sure the players received their bonuses for the outstanding games and promised to take care of their bonuses for the Monomotapa match.
“We do not want discord. I am promising that if you win your match in Harare there will be somebody waiting to pay you the winning bonuses,” said Obert Dube the club patron.
Shabanie whose fans are dotted around the country have also come up with a fund to help the team which was facing challenges in the area of finance.
“A bank account separate from the mine will be opened where sympathisers can deposit money that will assist the team in the critical moments and it will be properly accounted for,” said a source.
“We have come up with a four-year strategic plan as we want to see the team doing well. All what happened last Sunday is now water under the bridge and we are calling upon all stakeholders to come and join hands with us for the success of the Chinda Boys,” said club president Greg Mataka.
Mataka defended the executive telling the stakeholders that every cent was being accounted for and it was just a passing phase as the team commands a lot of support in the mining town and countrywide.
Luke “Vahombe” Masomere who last week publicly issued a statement that there were some people fighting against his success was a very happy man.
“I would like to thank the sponsors, my team manager, the executive and the fans for the job well done. I am warning Monomotapa that we will be invading Harare as a motivated lot,” he said
“They are playing a team that has motivated players and the game will be interesting but I am not saying we are going to win the match. We might lose but I am looking at positive results”.
“I am a father to the players and they are very happy and when they are happy I am also happy,” he said.
Dube saw the promotion of Mhangura into the then Super League when he was the manager at the copper mine.
He later joined Shabanie Mine and saw the team gain promotion in 2001 where the late Thomas “Chaurura” Makwasha and Asani Juma were hits.
He also was instrumental in bringing the Zimbabwean soccer legend Moses “Bambo” Chunga to Zvishavane.
Upon the departure of Dube the team faltered and was relegated and it only bounced back when he was named patron of the team which prompted him to talk his wife into sponsoring the team from her business venture.
FC Platinum were also presented with a $30 000 cheque from Cell Insurance company last Friday.
