CASTLE Lager Premier Soccer League new boys, Sheasham, aim to complete the facelift of Bata Stadium in Gweru by the end of this month.
Sheasham chairman, Reginald Chidawanyika, said they are almost done with the renovations, and he is confident that it would be ready for inspection by the new season kicks off.
“We are almost done with everything about our stadium. We have made remarkable progress with the stadium and are expecting it to be completed by January 31,” he said.
“We have done and finished our dressing rooms, the outer and inner fence, public toilets and ticketing booths. Currently, we are working on our parking space and the roads.
“Our people are in South Africa buying bucket seats to fit in our VIP and the media area.”
Chidawanyika said their first priority was to work on a good drainage system guided by ZIFA regulations.
“Our drainage system is of good standard. That was the first thing we attended to when we started building our stadium. We got hold of the responsible authorities and they gave us the required standards and that is what we are currently following and maintaining for the entire project.”
Chidawanyika said the club is focusing on building its youth teams and believes the first team has made the correct recruitments so far.
The club signed Diego Makurumidze and Tichaona Zota Macheka from CAPS United, Future Sibanda from Highlanders, Munyaradzi Chirwa from Whawha, Parkighton Mazhawu from ZPC Kariba and others from lower division sides to bolster their squad.
“We are focusing on youth. We are building our team with the youths and that was the mandate we gave our coaches. The average age we want is 25 and below.
“So, we went for guys who have experience and those who we believe can be important in our season’s campaign.
“We are still looking to fill three more slots with experienced players familiar with the PSL.”
