SHOES OF SHAME! Grandson busted for nicking granny’s LACOSTES

B-Metro Reporter

LUPANE – A 22-year-old man is now swapping his kicks for prison boots after he was sentenced to 18 months behind bars for breaking into his own grandmother’s home – all to steal a pair of Lacoste tennis shoes!

Bruce Ndlovu clearly took the phrase “if the shoe fits” a bit too literally. The Lupane Magistrates’ Court found him guilty after he broke into his 76-year-old grandmother Senni Ndlovu’s bedroom by forcing open a lock and padlock while she was away.

The shoe-crazed break-in caused damage worth ZWL310, and all Bruce had to show for it was a single pair of blue Lacoste trainers – and now, a criminal record.

Justice was swift but calculated. Ndlovu was handed 18 months in the slammer, with 6 months suspended – 5 for good behaviour, and 1 for paying back restitution of US$25. That leaves him with a clean 12 months to reflect on whether those designer soles were worth selling his soul.

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPAZ), in a bulletin dated 2 April 2025, summed it up best:
