Siblings clash over mom’s custody

FOUR siblings have clashed with their sister over the custody of their sick mother.

Ruvimbo Kachepa, Rutendo Kachepa, Chotina Mandeya and Tinashe Chinyadzwa have been dragged to the Harare Civil Court to answer to allegations of physically abusing Bet Mandaza.

Bet told the court that her siblings had a habit of assaulting her each time they visited.

“I never denied anyone access to our mother, but due to her condition, the doctor advised us to keep her in a peaceful environment, without noise.

“I only told them to maintain peace around our mother and desist from their barbaric behaviour, making drama around our mother.

“I once reported the assault case at  Budiriro Police Station and Chotina was once arrested for that,” she said.

In response Chotina, who attended the hearing in court, denied the allegations.

She claimed her sister was using her mother’s condition to have access to family property documents.

“I don’t know why she keeps insisting on taking care of our sick mother as if she is the only child in the family.

“She has some hidden agendas and that one I am sure of,” she said.

Presiding magistrate, Nyasha Marufu, dismissed the matter for lack of merit.
