SIMBA Bhora are traveling to Eswatini for the reverse fixture of their first round of the CAF Champions League preliminary round against Nsingizini Hotspurs with their heads held high.
They are enjoying a slender advantage having edged the Eswatini champions 1-0 in Botswana on Sunday.
Should they overcome this hurdle on Sunday, they will meet Gaborone United of Botswana or Tanzania’s Simba SC in the final round of the preliminary stage.
Simba edged Gaborone United by a similar scoreline on Saturday.
Simba Bhora have now gone for three games without conceding a goal, something which might help their cause should if they extend their run on Sunday.
The solitary strike that gave them the advantage was also scored by defender, Ishmael Nyanhi, who has been one of their better players in this campaign.
But, it is the pairing of Webster Tafa and Isheanesu Mauchi in their central defence that has been resolute in their bid to retain the championship.
Mauchi said:
“It was a good result for everyone associated with the club it was also a reflection of the work that we are putting in as a group.
“The plan was to try as much as possible to get a positive result without conceding and I’m happy that we managed to achieve that objective.
“Everyone was very excited with our debut appearance in this tournament because for many of us this was our first time and it feels good to play at this stage.”
A Zimbabwean businessman, who owns Black Lions a Botswana Premiership side Thendani Sebata, volunteered to host the champions in Botswana ahead of the reverse fixture.
Simba Bhora also received US$100 000 from their sponsors Betterbrands before they embarked on their CAF Champions League journey.
MWOS boss, Patrick Tamson, donated two buses and Hard Rock president Shepherd Chahwanda also weighed in with $6,000.
