Skills galore at ZNA shoot

AFTER a series of zonal elimination competitions, Zimbabwe National Army shottists converge at the Cleveland Rifle Range this morning for the Skill at Arms Shoot that will bring together civilians and members of the uniformed forces. The competition, an annual event, is likely to attract teams from all ZNA formations, the Zimbabwe Republic Police, the Zimbabwe Prison Services, the Air Force of Zimbabwe, the President’s Office, war veterans’ Murenga Club, civilians, security companies and other shooting clubs affiliated to the National Rifle Association of Zimbabwe.

National Rifle Range Association also use the event as a platform where civil society and the uniformed forces can test their marksmanship.

The Skills at Arms competition, which has grown in stature over the years, is the second shooting meeting involving the ZNA after the Chief of Staff All-Comers shoot.

In order for clubs to qualify for this competition, they had to take part in the elimination rounds that were held at zonal level and the winners will also be eligible for one of the major shooting competitions on the domestic calendar — the President’s Medal Shoot.

The event will see past winners like Priviledge Gondongwe, Evelyn Fimba, Melody Mutukwa among others expected to dominate in the women ranks.

Charles Kamutondo is expected to be in battles in the male category.
