JUVENTUS are closing in on the signing of Memphis Depay from Barcelona on a free transfer, according to reports.
The Dutch attacker could join the Italian side later today with the signing of the contract already scheduled despite some final negotiations still in progress.
Journalist Fabrizio Romano claims Depay also met with the Juve board yesterday and held positive talks with Barca preparing to make more signings.
He also reports that the Old Lady are willing to give up some bonuses in relation to an appearance clause in the deal they have when selling Miralem Pjanic to Barca back in 2020.
Depay has been essentially forced out of the Catalan based club after they brought in Robert Lewandowski.
They have been desperate to offload the ex-Manchester United star to help lower the wage bill while the club face some financial difficulties.
As a result, with Depay having just one-year left on his contract reports suggest they are willing to rip up his current deal to facilitate a move. Tottenham have shown an interest in him all summer but now look set to miss out on his signature.
Depay featured 37 times for Barcelona last season scoring 13 goals after making the switch from Lyon.
He is set to join a Juventus attack that features Angel Di Maria and Dusan Vlahovic.
He will also team-up with his old teammate Paul Pogba.
Depay may not be the only man leaving the Nou Camp in the coming weeks with Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang linked with a switch to Chelsea.
Reports hint that he prefers a move to the Blues rather than Manchester United. – Sun Sport.
