Music crossroads academy artist Rumbidzai Chidzonga has released an inspirational song titled ‘Chamupidigori’ targeting youths to embrace their culture through music.

The song is inspired by negligence of various youths when it comes to culture the everyday lifestyle which is facing stiff competition from western culture in music Hip hop and pop.

“Chamupudigori is an inspirational song targeting everyone especially the girl child living under pressure struggling to fit into the modern world due to cultural imperialism from the west hence undermining their culture.

“The song was produced by Chiweddar in Harare,” said Rumbidzai Chidzonga.

The artist said she draws inspiration from self-motivation and from her appreciation of cultural songs.

“Personally I have been labelled all sorts of names just because I’m not passive I didn’t allow people to change the real me so I could blend in to modern culture, I refused to be the victim of cultural imperialism I believe in my culture.

“Chamupidigori is a comeback song to all people who have said nasty things about my look some face to face some behind my back,” added the artist.

Rumbidzai urged youths within music industry to embrace and appreciate local culture as Zimbabweans to fight Western dominion and bring positive change in the country.

“Youths have to appreciate culture music for example mbira, ngoma, marimba, hosho in music lets embrace our culture it’s our duty as musicians to educate listeners about our culture lets focus on the positive side of our culture although due to emergency of western imperialism a lot of bad things is being associated with culture music.

“To our valued listeners let’s not be judgmental by bringing different perspective associated with culture this end up drowning the confidence of musicians associated with culture music lets embrace our culture more that is what defines us as Zimbabweans,” she added.
