musicians, who go by the names Clever Mukazi, Bright Kadenga, Goodnews Nyamakawo and Christopher Joe.
They rose to fame following the release of “Let’s Play” in 2009, which won the Best Video at the National Arts and Merit Awards.
The video featured South African-based Zimbabwean dancehall artiste and two-time Channel O music video award winner Buffalo Souljah, acclaimed Nigerian DJ Waxxy and the late Prince Tendai Mupfurutsa and received considerable airplay on Trace TV, Channel O and MTV.
“The single, to be released before the end of the month, marks the return of Soulbone after a two-year break”, said Mukazi, adding: “We are also in the process of shooting a video for the new single.”
If the success of previous efforts, such as “It is True”, which was voted number five on ZTV’s Top 50 hits of 2010, is anything to go by, then fans can expect nothing short of fireworks from the new single.
“People had written us off with some doubting whether the group was still alive following the death of our main sponsor, Prince Tendai,” said Mukazi, referring to the musician-cum-businessman who died in December last year from what doctors diagnosed as motor neurone disease.
“We would like to assure our fans that the group is now stronger and more dedicated than ever, thanks to the trials and tribulations we have endured and shared along the way,” said Mukazi.
The former Danhiko Secondary School students have rubbed shoulders with some of the biggest names in R&B, such as United States-based Senegalese star Akon when he performed in Harare two years ago.
