THE Zifa Southern Region will announce dates for their mid-season break at the end of the month when all teams are expected to have played 15 matches each.
As things stand only two teams ZPC Hwange and Indlovu Iyanyathela have played the highest number of matches a�� 14 a�� while Bulawayo Chiefs have played 11 matches, the least number of games in comparison with other clubs.
The Premier Soccer League has already announced that their mid-season break will start from 18 to 29 July.
League chairman Musa Mandaza said all teams lagging behind in fixtures will have to play catch up and get to the season half mark of 15 matches before the end of the month.
This is to allow the league to conduct the draw for the John Landa Nkomo Liquor Hub Super 8 tournament.
a�?The John Landa Nkomo Liquor Super 8 tournament will be played during our mid season break so we expect all teams to have played 15 matches before the end of the month. We want to take advantage of the mid season break to play the knockout tournament. This is why some teams have been slotted to play in mid-week fixtures,a�? said Mandaza.
The Super 8 tournament, named after the late Vice-President John Nkomo and sponsored by businessman Raj Modi to the tune of $5 000, is eligible to teams that finish in the top eight after 15 matches.
