If you ever doubted the power of Jay Z and BeyoncA�, then you might be surprised to learn that the pair earned a combined R1,5 billion over the past year.
According to the Forbes list of the world’s highest-paid celebrities released this week, music mogul Jay Z earned $53,5 million (just under R760 million) over the past year.
He was narrowly beaten by his wife BeyoncA�, who racked in $54 million (R774 million).
With a combined fortune of $107,5 million (a little over R1,5 billion), the pair were recognised as one of the most powerful celebrity couples in the world.
The couple made much of their fortune from Beyonce’s Lemonade album, which was streamed exclusively on Jay Z’s Tidal music service.
The pair have also secured several lucrative commercial deals over the past few months.
But even with their combined fortune, the couple did not earn enough to match the highest-earning celebrity last year.
The list gave that honour to pop star Taylor Swift, listing her earnings at a cool $170 million (R2,4 billion). That’s $60 million more than boy band One Direction!
Now we know where to go if we need a loan, right?
