THE Pacific Breeze Southern Region Soccer League continued to gather momentum over the past weekend, with Matchday Nine producing a mix of narrow wins, tight draws and decisive home performances across Saturday and Sunday fixtures.
As the promotion race intensifies, every point is proving crucial, with clubs beginning to separate themselves from early-season strugglers, while others continue to grind for consistency in a highly competitive campaign.
It was a case of goals, grit and fine margins.
The action kicked off with a lively set of encounters across Chiefs Village, White City, Luveve B Arena, Filabusi and Hwange, where home advantage and discipline played a key role.
Aqua Stars set the tone with a hard-fought 2-1 victory over Bosso90 at Chiefs Village, while Talen Vision edged Byo Warriors 1-0 in another tightly contested fixture.
At White City, Njube Spurs impressed with a commanding 3-1 win over Mosi Rovers, demonstrating attacking intent that could prove vital in the long run. However, it was a frustrating afternoon for Zebra Revolution, who were held to a goalless draw by Bulawayo City in a match that lacked cutting edge.
Zimbabwe Saints continued their steady form with a 2–1 win over Casmyn at Luveve B Arena, while Jordan also collected maximum points after a narrow 1–0 victory over Imbizo in Filabusi.
Hwange entertained their home supporters with a 1–0 win over Megawatt, while Khami United and Blackrock shared the spoils in a 1–1 draw in Khami.
On Sunday, the action wrapped up with a solitary fixture as Victoria Falls Herentals produced the most dominant performance of the round, sweeping aside Nkayi United 3–0 in a display that underlined their growing ambitions this season.
With the promotion race tightening, results such as these continue to shape the table as clubs jostle for early control of the campaign. Narrow margins, defensive discipline and clinical finishing are increasingly proving the difference between celebration and disappointment.
Attention now shifts to the midweek Matchday 10 fixtures, where pressure is expected to intensify further as teams look to build momentum or recover lost ground in what is shaping up to be a fiercely contested Southern Region Soccer League season.
