Speeding train ends alleged lovers’ meeting in tragedy

The married woman whose identity is being withheld until her next of kin have been notified was meeting an alleged lover above the Manyame River bridge.
The man, whose identity could not be ascertained, jumped off the bridge and swam to safety.

Mashonaland West police spokesperson Inspector Clemence Mabgweazara confirmed the incident adding that investigations were still in progress.
“We have received a report of sudden death but we are still carrying out investigations so that we have the particulars for those involved and what exactly took place,” he said.

The woman was taken to Chinhoyi Provincial Hospital before being transferred to Parirenyatwa Hospital where she subsequently died from the injuries sustained in the accident.

She sustained a deep cut on the head leading to excessive bleeding.
Sources said the woman was supposed to go to town with her husband and children for Christmas shopping but reportedly stayed behind to complete some household chores.
