Splash gig slated for 27 December

December is already around the corner and party fanatics have already started budgeting for the festive activities.

As such, one of the new shows that will be held during the festive season is the Splash festival which will be held at the Large City Hall on 27 December, clashing with the annually held Kalawa Jazmee homecoming party.

The old school township disco music extravaganza will feature South African veteran Amadamara musician Freddy Gwala and Splash Diva Patricia Majalisa as the headlining acts fused with local artistes like DJ Eugy, Nospa and Band Fusion.

Clement Magwaza and Madlela Skhobokhobo are some of the artistes that are yet to be approached to participate at the big gala.

Mduduzi Mdlongwa representing 3D Events and the United Kingdom-based South Grooves Entertainment, who are both the organisers of the show, revealed that they have since paid both the main acts to grace the event.

“It’s on for the Splash gala and it will be held at the Large City Hall on 27 December. We have since paid both Gwala and Majalisa to appear on the show and there is no looking back, we are also in negotiations with other local artistes to also feature on the event,” said Mdlongwa.

3D Events also has a hand in organising the annually held Kalawa Jazmee Homecoming party which is held on its traditional dates on 27 December.

However, Mdlongwa clarified that the Kalawa party is still on even if it clashes with the Splash gig.

“It is our plan to host both shows on the same date because we are targeting different market segments and audiences. There are people that will be from South Africa for the holidays and they are looking forward to chewing nostalgic bones and the Splash gig will be best for them.

“While on the other hand the Kalawa party will be for the young, vibrant, and energetic people because the history of Kalawa party proves it is mostly attended by younger people,” said Mdlongwa.

Ordinary tickets for the Splash gig will be available in October and the general ticket will be pegged at R50 while the VIP ticket will be sold for R150.
