corporate organisations. Peter Mawere, the ZScore chief executive, said their indaba slatted for June 15 would be a follow-up to the inaugural edition held at the National University of Science and Technology in Bulawayo last year. A former Zimbabwe Volleyball Association and Zimbabwe Olympic
Committee administrator, Mawere spent more than five years in Senegal and Qatar where he was heavily involved in sports marketing.
“The main focus of the event is the performance of sponsorship in challenging economic times and the evaluation of its effects. Our notion is that sports in now big business and as such we should be able to package our products and then put a price on them for corporates that want to ride on them.
“When a sport association seeks a sponsorship it should be different from when they are sourcing for donations. Sponsorship means it’s a win-win situation where all the parties should benefit while donations are tied to social responsibilities,” said Mawere.
The indaba, Mawere said, will run under the theme “driving revenue streams” and should be able to bring together sport associations, local governments, the corporate sector and sponsorship agencies.
